HappyCow is my go-to resource when traveling to a new town. It lists vegan-friendly restaurants in towns and cities all over the world, along with reviews and ratings. There are even filters for vegan, vegetarian, and veg-friendly options.

VeggieHotels is a great resource for vegetarian and vegan hotels, bed & breakfasts, and guest houses around the world. It provides detailed information about VeggieHotel member accomodations, as well as brief listings for non-member vegan-friendly accomodations. 

Here is a list of farm animal sanctuaries in the U.S. and around the world. Many offer tours and volunteer opportunities. But this is by no means a complete list, as luckily, more and more safe havens for animals are popping up all the time.

Although I was surprised by a couple of cities on this list of most vegan-friendly cities in the U.S., it just goes to show that veganism is growing–even in the most unlikliest of places! And here are several more options, focusing on smaller North American cities with lots of character!
